Monday's Homework: Click on the web link to go to author Ken Nesbitt's poetry site. Click on and then read the different funny poems. Once you have read at least 4 poems, choose the one you liked the most. Write a paragraph explaining which one is your favorite and why. Make sure you remember to write the title with correct capitalization and quotation marks.
My Favorite Poem
My favorite poem is My Dogs Name is Fred. I like this poem becuase I have both a cat and a puppy who are crazy. My puppy often does what ever my cat does. The only trick my dog likes to do is sit, roll over, and run and play. My cat is very quick and crazy. He enjoys playing outside. Sometimes my cat likes to be like a dog and go outside and play. I really enjoyed this peom becausse it realated to my pets and me.

Go to the following website to read the poem. Look up in a dictionary any words you do not know. Type a paragraph explaining what you think the author is trying to say in his poem. Then on plain paper, draw and color an illustration that would go with the poem. Turn it in when you get to school.
"What the Peoem is Saying"
The author of My Shadow is trying to tell us somthing. The author is trying to tell us that a shadow is suppost to be your friend. He is also trying to say that a shadow is just coping you if it is making a fool of you then you are really only making a fool of yourself. The poem is also saying that a shadow only follows you during the day so when you get up early in the morning and there is no light then the shadow will not follow you. What an author is trying to tell you is important in a peom so you will understand.
